Lectures in Russia

19.12.2018

Dr. Paul Amman, head of the research group International Management, held lectures at the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg and in Moscow, November 2018.

The lectures and case studies of Paul Ammann focused on "International Market Entry". The students were given the opportunity to solve an extensive case study and to discuss all important considerations for international market entry. In particular, the topic of intercultural cooperation was covered in depth. Based on the Hofstede model of cultural differences between countries, the students had to formulate their strategies regarding how to deal with employees and partners in the new export target country.
The students were very interested and actively participated in the presentations and especially in the case studies. They presented their very elaborate solutions and treated the lecturer's feedback in a positive way. The extensive interaction made the lectures and case studies a very positive experience for the lecturers and the students.

The Higher School of Economics (HSE) is a research-based institution and one of the largest universities in Russia. Established in 1992, the university is the brainchild of the professional community and it was founded on the principle of promoting national economic and social reforms by educating a new generation of future leaders in Russia. HSE’s main campus is located in buildings across Moscow, while there are also three branch campuses in other parts of the country. In 1998 HSE opened two additional campuses in St Petersburg, Russia’s second-largest city, and Perm, a city close to the Ural Mountains. HSE operates 100-plus research institutes, as well as more than 20 international laboratories. The university’s primary research fields include microeconomics, education, social welfare, healthcare and technological development.

This initiative was supported by the Swiss Embassy in Moscow and the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation to whom we are very grateful.
