Institute for Medical Informatics

As the first Swiss institute for medical informatics, we act as a bridge-builder at the interface between medicine and computer science for user-friendly IT applications for medicine and people.

One particular unique feature of this institute is the «Living Lab» – a platform for research and education – illustrating the essential components of the healthcare system: a hospital, doctor's surgery, physiotherapy, pharmacy which can communicate by means of e-health platforms and telemedicine services, healthcare management and a two-room apartment of the family Brönnimann, who are living virtually in our «Living Lab».

  • Workflow analysis on site
  • Conception and design of intuitive user interfaces
  • Creation of software prototypes and Apps
  • Installation and testing of software components in our medical informatics laboratory
  • Installation and testing of applications in the field of Active and Assisted Living (AAL) in a specially equipped apartment in our «Living Lab».

 

The I4MI applies its core competences

In CTI and EU projects as well as in industry-funded research projects for IT manufacturers and healthcare facilities such as hospitals, doctors' offices, eHealth Suisse and authorities.
