Publishing results of research work in peer reviewed scientific journals is an important part of general research activity. Making new research results public is an efficient way to allow other researchers to base and compare their work on the results former work. It avoids the need to reinvent the wheel again and again. Research institution and individual researchers are evaluated and or rated, also, on the basis of published work. 

In applied research, slightly different rules apply. The result of applied research and development does not have to be NEW but must be OPERATIONAL or useful. In addition when collaborating with industry, publishing results is not always sensible as this would reduce the competitive advantage. We therefore try to maintain a high level publication activity, but we definitely understand industrial need of NOT PUBLISHING. Happily as a university of applied sciences, the quality of our work is evaluated not primarily on publications but on our impact on industrial progress.
