Study Courses

The computer scientist learns with his/her instrument –the computer – to solve problems of an extremely wide range. He/she has to be able to design and produce quickly and economically high quality software, working moreover reliably and fast in order to offer innovative and efficient computer based solutions.

All this asks for specialized knowledge and experience with different components of the computer science as well as explicit knowledge about their strength and weakness.

  1. Haptic CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment) consists of a cubic adjustment of three projected areas, by which, with the help of several projects polarizing light, a three dimensional and virtual world can be entered and manipulated.
  2. Haptic laboratory with workstations and Haptic devices
  3. Research laboratory with video cameras and high capacity computers for projects in the field of computer vision, computer perception and Biometry.
  4. Laboratory for network- and system security with client workstations, server infrastructure and network HW, enabling to work in physical and logically separated networks, in order to, for example, experiment with network attack- and defense tools or malwae technologies.
  5. Laboratories for “web- and business applications” and “mobile computing” equipped with:
  • Mobile end devices of all form factors and operating systems for mobile applications;
  • Access to voice- and data services of all Swiss mobile operators;
  • Navigation systems, satelite navigation and further electronically supported navigation methods.
  • GIS infrastructure with navigatable map coverage;
  • Visualization tools and georeferenced addresses- and data;
  • W-lan and NFC test environment (RFID);
  • Audiovision components for digital recording- and replay multimedia contents;
  • Audiotext programming- and runtime environment (text-to-speech and voice recognition)
  • Date mining / text mining programming and runtime environment;
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP System;
  • SAP access.
